Dental Implants in Bedford
Dental implants are the closest thing available to natural teeth. Using a titanium “root” that’s placed into living bone, dental implants are a strong, long-lasting solution to missing teeth. There are a number of ways we can use implants to help you.
Single implants
We begin a single dental implant procedure by surgically placing a titanium implant in your jawbone. Then, we attach a piece called an abutment, to which we attach your new prosthetic tooth. Because the titanium implant functions just like a tooth root, a single dental implant can completely restore your ability to chew and talk normally.
Multiple implants
If you’re missing several teeth in a row, implants can help you. First, we place an implant at both ends of the gap. Then, we create a dental bridge, which we anchor to each implant. The result is replacement teeth that look and function like the ones you lost.
Implant-supported dentures
With implant-supported dentures, a number of implants—usually two—act as anchor points for a full denture arch to be attached. Unlike regular dentures, these dentures won’t slip or shift when you eat or talk. Though firmly attached to implants, they still remain removable.
Fixed-implant dentures
Fixed-implant dentures are similar to implant-supported dentures, except your dentures typically attach to four or more implants, and their attachment is permanent. Only your dentist can remove them. They should feel exactly like the natural teeth you miss.
